About
Mahdis born in Tehran in 1984, she is an acclaimed Iranian composer and pianist. She began learning piano at the age of six under the guidance of Javad Maroufi and gave her first solo concert at 14 at Seda va Sima University. She initially studied electronic engineering at Azad University before earning an M.A. in composition from Sooreh Art University.
Mahdis has performed at numerous concerts and festivals worldwide, including the Classical to Contemporary Music Festival in Tehran, the 4020 Music Festival in Austria, piano recitals at Niyavaran Hall, and collaborations with the chorus group of Vahdat Concert Hall at Roudaki Hall. She has participated in international music composition workshops and festivals, such as the Heidelberg Festival in Germany and Oxford Song Festival in Oxford and she has received commissions from prestigious Festivals and institutions, like Campus Lemmens Instituut LUCA in Belgium.
Her work has been recognized in various competitions: she was a finalist in the KLK New Music Festival and Concert in Ukraine (2013), selected by Docklands Sinfonia in the Epic Composition Competition in London (2014), won the IAWM Orchestral Competition in the USA (2015), and was a semifinalist in both the Mauriac Ravel Competition in Italy (2015) and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra (SMCO) Competition in the USA (2016) and Contempo Opera in USA(2023).
